#helloinstagram
/Writing a blog is much more than WRITING A BLOG. I'm learning how important it is to be on social media so new readers and followers will find my blog. However, it is also important to learn which social media platforms are going to serve you best. Well, I finally made it onto Instagram!
I posted my first photo on May 1st, so I'm still figuring things out. I've started to post photos in series of three. Often this is a before photo, progress photo, and of course, the after photo.
I'm experimenting with hashtags. It's different than twitter because you can use soooooo many hashtags in each post. I'm definitely reaching a new audience than on Facebook and Twitter, so that is beneficial for growing my blog into a business.
My goal is to have a balance of interior design photos and baby photos since I blog about both of these topics. As much as I want to share how cute Baby S is with the world (yes, I'm a bit biased as his momma), I also don't want to drown my feed with photos of him. I still want to retain some privacy because he will grow up one day and I would never want him to feel over-shared with the online community.
I think what I'm enjoying most about joining the Instagram community is the daily interaction with other Instagrammers. Between juggling my blog, multiple social media platforms, designing my home, and being a mom, and trying to start a new e-design business, I don't have as much time to read all of the blog posts as I once did. Now I can see what other bloggers are doing and really get inspired. Plus, we can share words of encouragement or celebration with each other.
As you know, I only post two blogs a month, but Instagram allows me to share my design and mom world three times a week. You can find me @decoranddiapers. So, if you enjoy my blog I hope you'll pop over and follow me on Instagram for the inside scoop!
