10 in 10: Day 7- Learn More About Your Friends by Looking at Their Pinterest Boards
/Are you gawking at my post title? Okay, fine... But now are you having second thoughts? That "Aha" moment?
If you're still not convinced, let's talk it through. I've been in Pinterest about 3 years. Pinterest is a great organizational tool that allows me to easily categorize images (with article links) that I can't live without. The great thing is that my friends and new followers can also see what I like and get to know me a bit better. It makes collaging a social activity, which is why its so popular.
With endless storage space on Pinterest.com I can create categories, referred to as boards on Pinterest, about everything I identify with. On my profile you'll see a a range of categories from arts and crafts to interior design, from pretty desserts to things that make me smile, and jewelry to bubbles. My Pinterest profile is part of my blog branding so I do keep most of my boards focused to my blog platform. However, I don't think a part of me is really missing from my boards, it's just who I am!
What? You didn't know I like bubbles? See, even if you've known me all my life, you just learned something new about me. It's not something I'd bring up in conversation, but I do think bubbles are whimsical, joyful, and ethereal. And now you know!
For example, I like to think I know my mom pretty well, so I was not surprised to see she has boards about quotes, gardens, arts and crafts and home decor ideas. My mom and I live in different states, but I can send her pins that I think she would like according to her current boards. I was surprised to see she had recipe boards, so that's something new I learned about her today. Now I can send her ideas from my food board.
I found out that a best friend of mine since junior high has an interest in tattoos and fitness. I don't think we've ever talked about exercise- ever! I have a cousin through my husband who has a very chic, avant-garde, couture style in fashion and design. I scrolled through all of her beautiful boards and was surprised at the last one- Bananas. But I have to admit, those are some edgy bananas!
As much fun as it is to collect pins (images) for your own boards, take a few minutes and look at your friends' boards and get to know them a bit better. You never know what you might find out!
